Sofia Richie was pretty late to the Twitter game, she finally tweeted (for the first time ever!) last month.
You can't blame her for being cautious on social media — especially given the Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez drama that she was roped into in August. (Justin still doesn't have an Instagram to this day.)
Now Sofia is opening up about her overall social media experience in her latest cover story interview with Complex. During Jelenagate, Sofia had deactivated comments on her Instagram profile. It was one particular comment that said "Go f/ck your mother, stupid," that may have been the message that ultimately pushed her over the edge to disable the feature entirely according to Complex*.
“This sh*t is crazy!," she told the magazine. "I was laughing about my life, like, oh my god, people are so psychotic. Some girl I don’t even know commented on my picture a week ago, ‘You should go kill yourself.' I just had to say something. I commented back, ‘I just want to understand the sadness in your heart.’" It seems she's taking a page out of Selena's book: kindness always wins out.
Sofia added that "a lot of people say they know me and my life, but no one really does. Except for, like, my family and Bronte." (She's referring to BFF Bronte Blampied, who was also linked to Justin in August.) "It’s frustrating," Sofia said. "My whole thing is I’m trying to spread love to everyone. Some people don’t see that, but I really am trying to spread positivity to people."
